Appeal Fundraising Enters New Phase

News date published: 19th December 2006

Following the success of the Knightsbridge come to St Woolos, fundraising for the St Woolos Rescue Appeal enters a new phase.

Fr Mark Soady says, ‘The reason we raised around £10,000 from the Knightsbridge event was because we took our fundraising wider than the City of Newport. St Woolos is the Cathedral for South East Wales and people from across the region are keen to be involved in raising funds for its appeal.’

Next term will see Church in Wales’ Schools across the region holding their own fundraising events. ‘These will tap sources which we ourselves at the Cathedral can not’, continues Fr Mark. The results of these fundraising events will be handed over at a special service in the Cathedral in March.

Fr Mark was keen to stress ‘that the Newport based fundraising would go on in parallel to this. The Mayor’s Charity Committee has many exciting events planed for the first half of next year; and other Newport events are also being organised’.
