Book Launched in aid of Cathedral Appeal

News date published: 4th February 2007

A Cardiff Solicitor, Eleanor D Williams has today (Sunday, February 4th 2007) launched her new book A Corner of the Room at St Woolos Cathedral.

She agreed that the proceeds from the first 50 signed copies would be donated towards the Cathedral’s Rescue Appeal. The book is a collection of fictional letters from Gwendoline Davies, an intrepid art collector, to her beloved sister Daisy. The book tells of her hope to find the reclusive artist Gwen John.

The book is based on true characters: the wealthy Davies sisters of Gregynong who left their collection of paintings to the National Museum of Wales.

Thanking Ms Williams for her kindness, Minor Canon Fr Mark Soady said. ‘ It seems appropriate that the story of a generous benefactor to Welsh art should be the cause of monies raised towards the restoration of another great Welsh treasure - St Woolos Cathedral!
