In an imaginative response to the Education Secretary’s call for Cathedral Choirs to get more integrated with local primary schools, some Evensongs at St Woolos will next term will be sung by the choirs of local church schools.
The scheme aimed at ensuring an increase in interest in music in the young involves 3 schools in a pilot scheme which is expected to increase to include other schools in the near future. The three schools involved are Henllys VC School, Magor VC School and St Mellons VC School.
Welcoming the development the Monmouth Diocesan Director of Education and Canon Residentiary, Canon Dr. Keith Denison said, ” It is great to see a strengthening of the ties between the mother church and the family of church schools in this Diocese”.
